Astro-Insights for 11-17 Sep 2017

Venus sextile Jupiter

With Mercury now well and truly in forward motion, and back in fastidious, precision-loving Virgo, its time to put aside frilly language and focus on the nitty gritty. While it is good to get to grips with the details and practicalities, just try to avoid the sharply critical and petty aspects of this sign, especially on Saturday (16th) when Mercury and confrontational Mars once again join forces.

Clashes with authority are another possibility when the Sun squares Saturn in self-righteous Sagittarius on Thursday (14th). Constructive criticism is one thing; high-handedness and moral repudiations, quite another. Before you go levelling accusations at somebody else, just make sure that you can’t be accused of hypocrisy. As the saying goes: “People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.”

Far better to bite your tongue and be diplomatic to those you despise now – taking the high road will play better with your conscience further down the line. Plus, with Venus sidling up to Saturn on Wednesday (13th) for another power trine, it’s fair to say that charm and sympathy will go a long way towards thawing icy attitudes and hardened stances.

That aside, we have some stunning transits to look forward to this week, including a cracking Venus-Jupiter sextile in fire and air signs on Friday (15th), just in time for the weekend! This auspicious meeting between the planets of love and luck is further enhanced by the fact that Jupiter will be conjunct the fixed star, Spica at the time.

This star is generally considered to be one associated with great fortune. According to Astrology King,

To Spica are ascribed honors and fame. Spica is of marked good fortune for scientists, writers, artist-painters, sculptors and musicians. If Spica is… conjunction Jupiter and [or] Venus, promise is given even to people of humble origins to enjoy protection, preferment and even wealth.

Spica marks the position of the ear of grain in the constellation of Virgo and as such, is often associated with metaphors surrounding reaping and harvesting of crops. The key is to tend to your crops for what you sew, you shall reap now.

Given the tolerant and genial nature of the benefics, it’s best to be as gracious and generous-spirited as possible, even with those who are difficult or mean–hearted, if you are to enjoy the full benefits of this favourable aspect. Good only comes from good – and with this incredible transit showering everyone with golden rays, chances are, it’ll only reflect well on you for being the bigger person.
