After the heavy energy of 2020, dominated by Saturn and Pluto, you could be forgiven for thinking that the astrology of December 2020 seems a little surreal. A bit too ‘woo-woo’ and rainbows and unicorns to be true. Right?
However, as you’ll discover when you come to view my eclipse videocasts, , it really IS that good! Not only will the two benefic planets, Venus and Jupiter, be making a smoochy sextile aspect to each other on the same day, but Mars in Aries – the planet of vitality, motivation and ‘mojo’ – will be applying by trine to the luminaries and Mercury in Sagittarius. All of which promises good news and positive developments – something I get into in greater detail, as it relates to each of the 12 Sun signs individually, in my eclipse forecasts on YouTube.
As if that weren’t enough, the total solar eclipse in Sagittarius also serves as a corridor into the 2020 winter solstice, with it’s Grand Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn, the planets of faith and reason, scientific materialism and spirituality, expansion and contraction in the humanitarian sign of Aquarius. Their ‘unio mystica’ will usher in a brand new 20-year cycle that carries in it the potential to end the polarisation and religious extremism we have seen tearing our society apart in the last few decades.
And, in a synchronistic twist of fate, the Sabian symbol for this – the very last solar eclipse for 2020 – is the bluebird of happiness! When I remembered the lyrics of Judy Garland’s famous Oscar-winning song from the Wizard of Oz, I got chills! Rainbows have definitely been a big theme this year, as a symbol – of diversity, a beacon of hope in troubled times and of support for the NHS during COVID, so I love the fact that they are combined here with an echo of the eclipse in a way that really resonates with the promise of the 2020 Grand Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn that’s due to happen at the winter solstice.
However wistful Dorothy’s sentiment in the above lyrics might be – something many of us can identify with right now in this time of Brexit, coronavirus and economic turmoil – the fact is that the astrology of December suggests that this imaginary place and utopian time may not only be achievable, but, with the impending Jupiter-Saturn conjunction, right on our doorsteps…
Interestingly, the luminaries will also be making a conjunction to fixed star Ophiuchus – the constellation associated with the magician-healer, Aesclepius, who shares many similarities with Hermes Trismegistus (or Hermes-Thoth) in the alchemical tradition – who I discuss in relation to Mercury and Saturn in my cosmic weather forecast for the Sagittarius Solar Eclipse.
However, as I was recently reminded, this requires us to collectively give up on the idea of a saviour-messiah – someone who is going to come rushing to our rescue – and instead, make a decision to save ourselves – and the planet – by taking back our power and harnessing our innate ability to heal and manifest that exists within each and every one of us.
