YOUR GUIDE TO SEptember’s Virgo–Pisces EclipseS
Welcome to the second half of Eclipse Season 2025.
2025 began with a boom – and a blur – thanks to the March 2025 Eclipses in Aries and Virgo, which marked a pivot point in terms of the nodal cycle.
Of particular relevance to us was the vibe of the Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo on 14 March. This celestial event coincided with a widespread yearning for emotional clarity and psychological congruence, as well as more defined external boundaries, laws, and limits during a time of global confusion and ambiguity.
CONTEXT: MARCH 2025 & THE GREAT UNDOING
That mutable energy lingered into April and May 2025, ushering in a period marked by instability and reversals. In fact, the three months following Pisces season and the Virgo lunar eclipse were anything but straightforward: think erratic tariff policies, diplomatic disruptions that were felt worldwide from NATO shake-ups to China-US relations, along with chaotic attempts to shakeup the UK and US civil service. Long-standing norms – from the post-WW2 Rules-Based Order to social safety nets, factchecking/statistical collection systems and aid programmes – were either challenged or dismantled by reactionary forces and subversive actors across the globe. Events such as these all contributed to what I’ve dubbed the “Great Undoing.”
This upheaval triggered widespread economic uncertainty and public disillusionment, something we saw reflected in volatile financial markets and political pushback, like the rebellion by UK MPs against proposed welfare cuts. Many of these reforms trace back to the Sept–Oct 2024 eclipses, which activated the unstable Uranus–Pluto–Neptune triangle that’s been tightening in the skies since 2023. While this configuration tapped into a hunger for social, institutional and economic reform, it lacked the structural integrity and staying power to make change sustainable long-term, especially with Saturn and Neptune in fluid Pisces, and many of the outer planets set to switch signs during the course of 2025.
A brief reprieve arrived in May 2025 when Saturn joined Neptune in cardinal Aries, bringing a sense of focus, direction and momentum. Their near-conjunction in early August hinted at progress, but Saturn’s reversal back into Pisces from 1 September 2025 until mid-February 2026 suggests that much of this stability and sense of solidity may have been fleeting. And with the lunar nodes now shifting into mutable Virgo–Pisces, eclipse energy is set to remain messy and transitional until 2027.

SEPT 2025 ECLIPSES OVERVIEW
The upcoming September eclipses reinforce this theme of liminality. As Eclipse Season 2.0 unfolds, expect echoes of March’s uncertainty, particularly around rules, regulations, and governance, and in areas such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals and charitable or altruistic endeavours, from foreign aid to vaccination and disease control programmes. The integrity of data collection and statistical analysis systems may continue to be undermined and/or called into question. Financial markets may also continue to wobble throughout the autumn – something Christine Skinner and I discuss in detail in Episode 9 of the Astro-Insights podcast.
However, on an individual level, those who choose to embrace a more fluid, intuitive approach to life may find a modicum of peace and solace. The Sabian symbol for the Pisces lunar eclipse on 7 September – “In a quiet moment, the flow of inspiration” – suggests that surrendering control, accepting imperfection/doubt, both in ourselves and others, and following our inner guidance and values in the absence of any external guidance or direction, may be the most effective strategy in such changeable times. In many ways, this makes me think of the concept of mystical poverty, which is outlined so well in this book review of the Corbin trilogy by M.Ali Lakhani, in which he writes:
In the end, the path to Light lies through Darkness: we can know only through our unknowingness and we can be born into Being only through our own mystical poverty.
Jupiter’s transit through Cancer, which will see it forming some harmonious aspects with the luminaries during eclipse season, also offers some light in the darkness, highlighting a more hopeful pathway through all this ambiguity. Still, Virgo’s influence – via the Sun and Mercury, especially at the solar eclipse on 21 September – will continue to demand more precision and clarity, creating tension between the desire for psychological fluidity and external flow (perhaps even a temptation to take the path of least resistance for the sake of peace) on one hand, and the need for certainty, precision and clearly-defined parameters, on the other.
HUMAN DESIGN STARGATES & I CHING SYMBOLISM
In Human Design terms, the luminaries at the Lunar Eclipse will activate stargates associated with doubt and chaos:
- 🌕 Moon in Gate 63: Clarification, verification, refining knowledge in order to overcome uncertainty and confusion
- 🌑 Sun in Gate 64: Making sense of confusion, uncovering hidden insights, opening up the inner eye of intuition

PLANETARY ASPECTS
Saturn’s subversive opposition to the Sun from Pisces during the solar eclipse will also underscore the futility of relying on traditional authorities for answers, at least for the six-month duration of this eclipse energy. Between September and November 2025, leadership may continue to falter or disappoint, and centralised decision-making, prove ineffective. Instead, we’re being advised to lean into our personal intuition, and rely more on our own resources and those of community-based support systems that we may help to rescue, restore or create.
Mars squaring Jupiter will add a further layer of volatility at the solar eclipse, potentially triggering impulsive actions and lapses in judgment. The Solar Eclipse on 21 September, with both luminaries in late Virgo and opposite Saturn, may usher in a six-month phase marked by bureaucratic obstruction, abuse of power and petty, ‘jobsworth’-like vindictiveness, but also institutional collapse, allowing corruption and personal fiefdoms to proliferate. Recent examples – like the politicisation of visa applications or the removal of security details from political figures, or the undermining of the UN via the politicisation of the security council veto – illustrate this trend.

Adding further tension to the mix is the Uranus–Venus square, exact at the time of the 21 September solar eclipse. This transit stirs up rebellion, restlessness, and an uncompromising desire for personal freedom, especially in the realm of political self-expression and social values. Expect flashpoints around identity politics, cultural norms, and relationship dynamics, where the libertarian urge to break free from outdated expectations or shed shared commitments and obligations (eg ESG, ethics, safety) in the pursuit of unfettered progress could clash with the need for social cohesion.
On a collective level, this aspect underscores the importance of compromise and tolerance, particularly when navigating political or ideological differences. Without a willingness to accept divergent viewpoints, this transit could amplify polarisation and provoke reactionary responses, something likely to be reflected online and in the media. But if harnessed constructively, it offers a chance to redefine what freedom and authenticity mean in a rapidly evolving world.
The Saros series for the September 2025 solar eclipse calls for particular caution and diligence around paperwork and sensitive topics like healthcare, pensions, and elder care. Neptune’s unchecked influence until February 2026 could also fuel destabilising rule-breaking and nationalist overreach, as seen in the persistence of protectionist tariffs and inflammatory anti-migrant rhetoric in the UK press.

With Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini still active and firmly in the celestial frame, we can expect continued polarisation and potential civil unrest. In fact, it’s probably fair to say that the September eclipses do not suggest a peaceful or orderly period ahead. Yet, amidst all the potential upheaval and chaos, planetary sign shifts remind us that change is the only constant, and that adaptability now is key.
The I Ching’s guidance for the Sept 2025 Solar Eclipse, epitomised by the presence of the luminaries in Gate 46, Pushing Upward, encourages perseverance and alignment with inner timing. Determination and intuitive action will be your best allies between now and next February.
And when in doubt, fall back on your own innate set of ethics/rules; and in group situations, opt to go with the flow or wait for the invitation before speaking up or offering advice/solutions, however well-intentioned. Otherwise, you may find that your wisdom or helpfulness will not be valued or recognised.
As we move through the final months of 2025, the heavenly writing points to a world in flux – a time when old systems are faltering or being undermined, and new paradigms are still struggling to take root. While uncertainty may dominate the headlines and haunt policy debates, the mutability of this period also offers individuals a rare opportunity to reimagine what resilience, leadership, and community can look like. Whether through creative adaptation, mutual aid, or spiritual insight, the invitation is clear: we’re being called to rise above the noise, trust our inner compass, and help shape the future – locally, and from the ground up. The September 2025 eclipses (along with Saturn’s retrograde phase) may temporarily obscure the path ahead, but in doing so, they encourage us to open our inner eye and help illuminate what’s ready to be transformed within us, both individually and collectively.
Eclipse Path Map & Visibility Zones
As you can see from the map below, the September 2025 solar eclipse is slightly unusual in that it will take place quite close to the south pole, which means that it is only likely to be visible from places like Antarctica, Australia and New Zealand.

However, what this signals to me is that, in contrast to popular wisdom, this eclipse is likely to have more of an internal, rather than external impact; but it may also indicate change that seems to creep up on you, as if by stealth – something further emphasised by the mutable signs involved in this set of soli-lunar events.
CHEATSHEET: THE NEXT SIX MONTHS
